It's been a year.

Tomorrow is Colton's first birthday. I can't believe it's been a year...time sure does fly by! I'm ready for tomorrow to be over because all of those old feelings are coming back and I don't like those feelings. It seems like it was just yesterday. I have been very emotional since we've been home with Isaac...just from being a new and exhausted mom to thinking about Colton. We are very, very thankful and blessed to have Isaac, but we still wish we had Colton here with us. We know he is in a great place and couldn't be happier for where he is. This is a bittersweet time for us...keep us in your prayers.

It's exhausting being a baby!

Isaac and I took a long nap this morning. He slept longer than I did...doesn't he look exhausted? He sleeps with his hands around his head like that. We can't keep them covered up because he gets them out of the blanket before we can finish wrapping him up. Today went pretty good without Daddy...not saying we can't do it without him but I'm getting into the swing of things without help during the day. My parents come over on their lunch breaks, and they tell me to take a nap but I can't because I have to visit...it's my only interaction with adults until Heath gets home. Isaac and I went to my mother in laws for a couple of hours today just to get out of the house. It took me 30 minutes to round up everything to take. I didn't realize!!

Just Mommy and me

This was on Monday when Daddy went back to work. Isaac slept most of the afternoon, but was fussy during the morning. We made it ok without Daddy, but it sure did feel good when he got home. I needed another pair of hands! I didn't get much done because I was either holding him or sitting and watching him sleep.

Sunday, March 29th

We ate at my mom's house today, and then we went to Shelley's house. I didn't get any pictures of Isaac and Anna Kate because Isaac isn't suppose to be close to others kids just yet, but I want to go back so I can get their picture together. After we left there, we went to Heath's mom's and Heather, Shane, and the girls came over. Everyone loved on him all day, and when we got home, he was ready to rest...he slept 5 hours that night. I guess everyone wore him out because he has never slept that long before. I'll get pictures with the girls too when Isaac is able to get close to them.
Heath went back to work on Monday. We'll make it though.

Saturday, March 28th

We thought this was a cute picture of Isaac "appearing" to hold his pacifier in his mouth, but that's just where his hand happen to land. We had his hair spiked like a mohawk, but you can't really tell from these pictures. We did it after Heath gave him his sponge bath.

"Just a Swingin' "

Isaac likes to swing or at least he seems to like it. He was wide awake, and it never put him to sleep. He started fussing so I picked him up. I was talking to him and said you are rotten and he grinned (I know it's not really a grin yet, but it was too cute!)

Isaac with Mommy and Daddy in the doctor's office

Today we took Isaac to the doctor for his first week check-up. The doctor said he looks great, and he lost one ounce, but the doctor said usually newborns lose more than that in the first week, so he is doing great and on the right track. I didn't get pictures of when the doctor was in there because he had to pull the skin back where he was circumsized because the skin was growing back which it's not suppose to. It starting bleeding and Isaac was not happy. I was more concerned with getting our questions answered rather than thinking about pictures. After we were finished, we changed his diaper, and he peed all over the wall behind him. It was very funny! It was like a water sprinkler going off! At least he didn't pee in his own face. He goes back in one month. We really like his doctor. He is really nice.
Before Isaac's appointment, I had to go back to get my staples removed. They said everything looked great with me and the scar, so I was happy with that.

Can you see me?

Isaac in his first camo outfit. We had to get a picture before we ate...that's why he's on the table!

Daddy and Isaac

After his bath today, Isaac was just worn out. We dressed him in his "Daddy's Helper" outfit that has little tools on the hip. We took him out to meet the people Heath works with today because Heath had to pick up his check.

Isaac's first sponge bath at home

Isaac got his first sponge bath at home today. He did not care for it too much at first, then he stopped crying. He does not like to be naked or for his diaper to be changed, so we have to be quick. We have to be quick also because we have both got peed on and I got pooped on last night. Heath thought that was funny.

Daddy and Isaac

While Daddy was feeding him, Isaac decided he'd just hold his own bottle. He is already holding his head up and moving it around himself.

Visitors

Isaac's great aunt Paula came to visit Monday while Heath went to get oil to change it in my car.

Isaac's Pop Pop

My sister and Rodney came over yesterday afternoon to visit. Leah had to stay at mom's because Isaac isn't suppose to be around kids for a couple of weeks.

Heath's Mamaw and Papaw came by to visit on Sunday afternoon. Then they came back later with Heath's uncle, but he wouldn't let us take his picture with Isaac.

Coming home!

This is the only picture we have of us coming home. We were so ready to come home, we didn't even think about the camera. The outfit we brought him home in was so big it was falling off of him. We got home Saturday around 12:30, and it sure did feel good to be home with him.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ISAAC!

We had an unexpected change on Wednesday. My blood pressure was too high, so my doctor sent us over to the hospital and did the c-section Thursday morning. Isaac was born at 6:45 and weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. 19 1/2 inches long. He has lots of hair and long blonde eyelashes. He is just the most beautiful thing we've ever seen! (we're a little partial though!) We will get to come home tomorrow and can't wait for you all to meet him.

Everything went great! We are so relieved and excited he is here. We'll put some more pictures on later because most of our pictures on our other camera, and I didn't bring the hook up for it to the hospital. I promise you'll see lots more pictures later.

Monday, March 16th check-up

We went back to the doctor today, and everything is still going great. I didn't gain any weight, and my blood pressure was up a little but again I was at the dr. office. It's always up when I'm there. My doctor had an emergency surgery he was doing at the time of my appointment, so I had to see another doctor. She checked me, and I have not dilated at all. She said he is still high up. I had several questions for my doctor, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving Hot Springs without talking to him. So, after lunch, we went back to the office, and we got to talk to him. I go back on Friday to do a non-stress test and to make sure nothing has changed. We are scheduled for a c-section Monday the 23rd! We have to be there at 5 a.m. and he'll start at 6:30. So, the countdown is on!! It's going to be a very long and emotional week...keep us in your prayers.

Sunday after church

Here is a picture of me and Heath after church. We don't have a picture of us together during this pregnancy, so I thought I better get one taken before next week.

What a scary afternoon!

Yesterday, about 2:00, I went to lay down in the lounge to rest and put my feet up while another teacher watched my kids. I had noticed Isaac wasn't moving around very much so I decided to get a coke and a cookie hoping the sugar would wake him up and he'd start moving around. Well, about 30 mintues passed and I only felt one little kick, so I decided I better call my doctor. I told them what was going on and everything, and he said to come to the office so they could hook me up to the monitor. Isaac was moving more on the way up there, but not moving like he usually does. It was very scary, but we got there and he started jumping and moving around like a little jumping bean. He made mommy a liar, but I'm glad he did and everything was ok. They said he was more than likely laying on my back that's why I couldn't feel him much. I took today off from work to rest and relax and it feels good to just rest without worrying about work. I go back to the doctor on Monday instead of Wednesday. I just have a feeling he is not going to do the c-section on the 20th. He's going to wait until the 23rd, which is just fine if that's what needs to happen to make sure Isaac is healthy enough to come. I'll keep you updated!

March 9th check-up

I went for another check-up today, and some things have changed. My blood pressure was up, but not too bad. He is thinking of moving the c-section to Friday the 20th instead of the 23rd. He wants to see how my blood pressure is next week, and then he'll let us know either the 20th or the 23rd. I gained 3 pounds so that puts me at 28 pounds. I go back Wednesday the 18th to have a checkup and a non-stess test. He checked me today and I have not dilated any, and we did a non stress test. Isaac decided to sleep during that test, so we were trying to wake him up by me laying in all kinds of positions, but he was sleepy and was not paying us any attention. So, we went and did an ultrasound just to make sure he was doing ok. He passed the test. She used some kind of buzzer thingy and mashed it on my belly, and it woke him up. He started jumping around, but the second time she did it, I guess it made him mad because he punched me so hard it hurt. You could see on the screen that he had his fists doubled up....she made him mad!! He must be like his mommy...mommy gets irritated when she can't take a nap when she needs one! Oh, by the way, the doctor said Isaac is already measuring like a full term baby...no wonder I'm so miserable!! So, we'll see...it won't be much longer now.

March 2nd check-up

I went back to the doctor today, and everything is still going great. I gained 2 pounds, which puts me at 25 pounds total so far, and my blood pressure was also good. I couldn't believe it. I had to see another doctor because my doctor is at a meeting all week, but I really liked who I saw today. We did an ultrasound to check his growth today, and she said he is growing great. He weighs 6 lbs. 7 oz. now, and she said he'll be somewhere between 8 lbs and 8 1/2 lbs when he gets here. She said he should gain about 1/2 lb a week or he could even gain 1 lb a week....so we'll see! It really doesn't matter how much he weighs as long as he's healthy. Yes, we tried again for a 4-d picture, but he didn't want any part of it. We'll just have to wait 3 more weeks to see him!
